IMPRESSIONS

MUSSI ASTRID & FRANCIS VAN Aeken
(photo, video)

1 to October 16, 2010

When you point the lens of his camera in a public place and allowed the shutter open time in a long exposure, cars disappear and people disappearing. Only that which is permanent can be found on the film: the buildings, the stones.

Speeches famous and notorious scored major moments in our history. But what happens when we point our goal in these speeches? What remains of it all these images? What remains true of all these words?

For many years the artist Astrid Mussi has used photographic techniques and video to see our reality through a different sense of time. In the project 'Impressions', it works with the scientist Francis Van Aeken to apply the concept of slow shutter speed, not only video but also to speak.

Impressions, speeches by John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Adolf Hitler and other
